Alicia Swalley, Psy.D., LP

Licensed Psychologist

 

Dr. Alicia Swalley is a Licensed Psychologist who graduated with her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Swalley practices individual psychotherapy with adolescents/adults and is an LGBTQIA2S+ affirming psychologist. Dr. Swalley collaborates with individuals toward greater self-awareness, purpose, resilience, and authenticity in their lives. She also conducts psychological evaluations with individuals across the lifespan that facilitate diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and positive change. Areas of therapeutic interest/experience include: personal growth/self-discovery; fostering meaningful relationships; navigating life changes; coping with grief and loss; family of origin issues; trauma; brainspotting; mindfulness; depression; anxiety; religion and spirituality; and holistic health. Dr. Swalley is a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200 through Yoga Alliance), and incorporates yoga and meditation into her work with those who are interested in learning how these practices can support their overall well-being. Alicia provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota.

Shawna Marshall, MA, LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

 

Shawna graduated with her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health from the University of South Dakota in 2012. Over the last 8 years of working in the field, Shawna has focused primarily on working with children and families. Shawna's areas of training and specialties including attachment, adoption, early childhood, at-risk behaviors, depression, and suicidal ideation. Shawna has also been working with adults of all ages and presenting concerns for the last 4 yrs and has training in DBT. Shawna utilizes aspects of DBT, CBT, person centered therapy, narrative therapy, and solution focused therapy in her work and works hard to meet the client where they are at. Shawna's focus with adult clients is often on building your voice, finding fulfillment and what that means for each individual, working through stage of life changes, and on improving relationships. Shawna co-facilitates our Adolescent DBT Skills Group. Shawna provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota.

Jessica Burke, MA, LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

 

Jessica is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapist, by Evergreen Certifications. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in psychology and minoring in fine arts. She graduated from Sioux Falls Seminary with a Master of Art in Counseling, where she gained valuable therapy experience with community mental health in practicum and internship at Sioux Falls Psychological Services.

 

Jessica’s areas of expertise include grief counseling and child/infant loss, pre- and post-partum difficulties, addiction and chemical dependency, trauma disorders and complex trauma, high conflict family therapy, attachment and behavioral disorders, IPV (intimate partner violence), depression, anxiety, anger and has an additional passion for working with personality disorders (specifically borderline, narcissistic, histrionic, and antisocial). She has experience with ages 5 to 60 and working with different ethnicities, races, cultures, religions. She also has experience working with other clinicians and health care professionals.

 

Jessica is trained in brainspotting and is a certified dialectical behavioral therapy professional. She also regularly uses cognitive therapy, relational psychoanalytics, Bowenian systems theory, narrative therapy, and eco or nature-based therapy. Mindfulness, meditation, and transformation are key components of her treatment process. Jessica leads an art-focused therapy group available for all ages as well. Jessi works hard to meet her clients where they are and operate within their value system, with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and love. Jessi provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota.

Savannah Larson-Dirkx, MS

Clinical Trainee


Savannah graduated with her master’s degree in Human Resource Management with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South Dakota State University. She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, women, and families. Her areas of expertise include sports performance, sports traumas from physical injuries, failures, and humiliations, abuse survivors, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, as well as other mental health disorders. Savannah is also very passionate about working with athletes, farmers and ranchers. Savannah is currently working towards certification in Brainspotting, and has completed a Brainspotting for Sports Performance and Brainspotting for Addictions specialty trainings. From a place of humility, care, and without judgment- she works hard to help her clients build resilience and find purpose, with an emphasis on continuous personal growth. Savannah co-facilitates our Adolescent DBT Skills Group and Adult DBT Skills Group. Savannah is a LPCC license candidate, working under the supervsion of Erica Hough, MA, LPCC. Savannah provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota.

Jason Mork, MA

Clinical Trainee

 

Jason is a Mental Health Practitioner who graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Sioux Falls Seminary. Jason's speciality is helping people of all ages to build and maintain healthy, happy, successful relationships.  Areas of expertise include marriage/couples counseling, depression, anxiety, and grief.  Jason has over twenty years of experience as a teacher and specializes in working with kids of midle school and high school age. He particularly wants to help kids with relationship challenges, such as child/ parent and friendship or dating challenges. Jason is a LPCC license candidate, working under the supervsion of Erica Hough, MA, LPCC. Jason provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota.

Nicole Mulder, MS

Nicole is a Mental Health Practitioner who graduated with her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South Dakota State University.  Nicole enjoys working with individuals, children, and families.  Her areas of expertise include working with victims of domestic violence, anxiety, depression and PTSD, as well as co-occurring mental health and chemical dependency disorders. Nicole facilitates our Adult DBT Skills Group.  Nicole is a LPCC license candidate, working under the supervsion of Erica Hough, MA, LPCC. Nicole provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota and South Dakota.

Taylor Payer, Intern

Clinical Trainee


Taylor is currently in her Master’s program at South Dakota State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She graduates in December 2022. Taylor plans to work with adolescents and adults. Areas of interest are anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and other mental health disorders. Taylor is being trained in brainspotting. She is interning under the supervision of Erica Hough, MA, LPCC. Taylor provides in person counseling services, as well as online counseling to clients in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa.

Erica is the owner, Clinical Director, and Board Approved Supervisor at Luverne Counseling. Erica graduated in 2012 with Master of Arts degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Counseling from Adler Graduate School. Erica is a somatic psychotherapist who specializes in healing trauma, PTSD, food addictions, nicotine addictions, and anxiety disorders. Erica has completed EMDR certification and is currently working towards certification in Brainspotting. Erica has completed training in Brainspotting Phases One and Two, Brainspotting and Addiction, The Crocodile Set Up, and Expansion Brainspotting. Erica is a member of Body Justice Brainspotting group, Minnesota Brainspotting Consultation Group, South Dakota Brainspotting Consultation Group, and assists at Brainspotting trainings. Erica uses focused mindfulness, compassion, humor, support and has a natural ability to connect with clients to help them feel comfortable. Erica is a wife, mother, and dog mom. Erica is now accepting new clients in person or via telehealth in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa.
